February 16, 1945 (Tuesday) At Usuki Shipyard Co., Ltd., the name and launching ceremony of a new vessel that will enter service on the Hakata-Hitakatsu route as a substitute for the "Ferry Genkai" from July 3rd. Was held and was named "Umiterashi".
"Umiterashi" is another name for Chionanthus retusus, which grows naturally in the northern part of Tsushima City, and was decided by open recruitment with the hope that it will illuminate the sea forever.
